Brenton de Rooy grew up in a small coastal town called Forster on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. This area is known throughout Australia for it’s crystal clear water and endless miles of coastline with unlimited and uncrowded surf potential. Being Raised by the ocean and spending all my free time possible there, it was only a matter of time until I picked up a camera and started shooting.
I have been shooting photos now for roughly 6 years, A large emphasis of my photography is ocean based, although I am slowly but surely branching out into the wedding market, which I’m super excited about. I feel Weddings are unique, as they are all different with only one chance of getting the shot, that to me is exciting and help with developing my talent even further. I believe in a photojournalist approach to wedding photography, by that I mean not staging photos, just be one in the crowd and capture the moments as they happen.
My main objective with ocean art and surf photography/surf lifestyle photos is to get great, beautiful and unique photos to differentiate myself from every other individual with a camera. To develop different techniques like my double exposure surf images I shoot with different lenses as the perspective changes, and also study post production techniques. This unique technique I believe will eventually allow me to enter the surf photography industry as a professional as no other photographer has this style or approach.
